We administer and oversee various services in Kirk Michael. You can find out more about the responsibilities and statutory functions of Michael District Commissioners from the Clerk to the Commissioners at our office on Main Rd, Kirk Michael, or use the contact details below.

The Commissioners are responsible for grass cutting in their own amenity areas. As most residents will be aware the hedge cutting, weed spraying, gully cleaning and road sweeping had been handed over to the Commissioners in 2015. This does not include the A3 (TT Course) which is still the responsibility of central government. Any other issues need to be forwarded on to the relevant Government Department who have a Report a Problem facility on their website. Commissioners are also responsible for street lighting which the MUA maintain.

Refuse Collection

Our refuse collection is provided courtesy of the Northern Parishes Refuse Collection Board, which carries out the collection of household and business refuse from the boundaries of Ramsey to the boundaries of Kirk Michael. This includes all parishes and villages between the boundaries, including Kirk Michael. Collections are fortnightly unless otherwise agreed by the board. They can be contacted by email at clerk@nprcb.gov.im.

Street Lighting

Street lighting in the Village is operated in conjunction with Manx Utilities. In the event of any queries, problems or maintenance issues, please contact Michael District Commissioners in the first instance.

Car Parks

Michael District Commissioners own and operate two car parks within the Village (the Mull View and Main Road car parks). The Station Road car park, situated behind the old Isle of Man Bank, is owned by the Isle of Man Government and operated by the DOI.

Michael District Commissioners own and operate the new public toilets on Main Road, built to replace the existing outdated facilities, and opened in 2019. They include baby-changing facilities and are accessible to disabled users. In addition, we maintain the Portaloo at the picturesque Glen Mooar site, roughly a mile south of the Village.
